CSA
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from a farmer like us, Natural Earth Farms. We have been farming for more than 15 years when we started on our own in 2008 at a 10 acre farmland in Calverton, NY.
We offer a certain number of "shares" to the public every harvest season. It is a pre-paid share of fresh, naturally grown produce that our farm will harvest for weekly pickups. This arrangement creates rewards for both of us, Natural Earth Farms and you the CSA member. CSA will help support our farm with revenues early in the season to purchase our seeds and fertilizer and helps us with any other pre-season expenses. CSA is good for you, the members, as you will receive and eat fresh natural and local grown produce with all the flavor and vitamin benefits; get introduced to new vegetables and new ways of cooking; develop a relationship with your farmer who grows the food you put on the table; know exactly where the food you consume came from and learn more about it.
For 24 weeks you will receive a share of naturally grown, in season produce that will consists of 6 to 9 varieties that will range from 10lbs to 25lbs. Each share is adequate to meet the produce needs of 2 to 4 people each weel. Your share will be available for pick-up every week at our farmstand or another location designated by your local CSA Coordinator. Our 2013 CSA Share costs only $500. That's about $20 per week. Some drop off locations has a $50 delivery fee per share (that's about $23 per week for the share) We also offer payment options.
By joining our CSA Program you will eat healthier as fresh naturally grown vegetables will become part of your daily meals. You will know where your food actually comes from. You know that it's locally grown and did not travel more than 200 miles away. You will get the freshest produce from our farm. The quality of taste of a vegetable picked on its peak the same day you receive it is more delicious. It's affordable and convenient. The vegetable you will receive each week is less than the supermarket retail price. We use natural methods so it's good for the environment.
Please check our website's "Fresh Picks" link for the harvest calendar and the variety we are growing. We will also post on our website or send an email the CSA pick-up schedule, and what you can expect that week in your box of share and some recipe suggestions. We have provided last year's CSA harvest list as a sample to give you an idea what's in each share.
Possible CSA drop sites can be worked upon depending on the number of members per group and the distance from our farm. If you are interested to be one of our CSA Coordinators, please contact us and let us know which area you can designate a particular site for delivery option to be considered.
We will provide our best efforts to maximize the value of your weekly share. Excluding any major inclement weather issue, we promise to provide you with an abundant weekly supply of delicious, naturally grown produce that will please you. In the event of crop failure, we will supplement that crop with local grown produce.
